News from Awakening Arts: Blessings at the Autumn Equinox

Blessing at the Autumn EquinoxOld worlds are dying

Like dessicated leaves we cling to hardening branches

till swirling in winds of change we spiral to a soft ground, listening…

The Autumn of Creation

Listening for the heartbeat of unborn worlds, a future in gestation

curling embryos of what we may be…

Autumn Equinox is a time of turning within…

The profusion of summer’s riotous colors deliquesce to tones of grey and velvet green withers into brown.  Flowering forms shrivel and fall away as roots deepen into the earth.  As a part of all that is, our energies also seek to go within.  Attune to the energy of this season.  Take time to feel the deeper pulses flowing beneath the surface.  Listen; to the wind, to your heart, to the still small voice and to the silent whispers from Eternity.

About the Autumn Equinox
Autumn in the Garden of Eden

Autumn in the Garden of Eden by Dana Lynne Andersen

An equinox occurs twice a year, when the day and the night are equal, deriving from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night).  It is the moment when the latitudes +L and -L north and south of the Equator experience nights of equal length.
Though the term equinox is commonly used to describe the entire day of this passage, it actually occurs at a precise moment in time.  This moment comes twice a year, when there is a location on the Earth’s equator where the center of the Sun can be observed to be vertically overhead, occurring around September 22/23 each Autumn and around March 20/21 each Spring.  At this Equinoctial point, the Sun arrives to where the celestial equator (i.e. declination 0) and ecliptic intersect.

This year, the Autumn Equinox will occur on
September 23rd at 9:04 UTC

*UTC  (Coordinated Universal Time)  is a time standard based on International Atomic Time (TAI) used when scientific precision is required.  As the difference between UTC and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) must remain within 0.9 seconds (GMT) is considered essentially equivalent.
